Welcome to Salt & Bone Studio!

We’re Jennifer and Nic, the artists behind the pieces of art you’ll find here. What started as a shared love for the ocean turned into a creative adventure we couldn’t keep to ourselves. Every item is handmade by us using handpicked real (unoccupied) Florida shells and fossilized shark teeth we’ve collected with care.

We’re so happy you stopped by and can’t wait for you to find something you love as much as we loved making it.

I’ve always felt a deep connection to nature and animals, but it wasn’t until I moved to Florida a few years ago that I truly found myself again — barefoot in the sand, collecting shells, watching the tides, and falling back in love with the ocean. The waves, the wildlife, the endless shoreline… it wasn’t just beautiful — it felt like home.

Salt & Bone Studio started without any plan. Just us, walking the beach, filling our pockets with shells and fossilized shark teeth we couldn’t leave behind. I started making things for my home, then for friends, and slowly, it became something more — a way to share pieces of the ocean that have meant so much to me.

Now, I get to do what I love every single day — with the man I love by my side. Together, we spend our days beachcombing, creating, and building something meaningful from the things we find and the memories we make.

Every piece I create is made by hand and with heart — using natural shells, ethically sourced materials, and a deep love for the sea. No two are the same, and each one carries a little bit of the magic we’ve found out there in the surf.

If you’ve ever felt that same pull toward the ocean, that sense of peace or wonder, then I hope you feel right at home here too.

Nic

I’ve always loved working with my hands — building, creating, bringing ideas to life. There’s something deeply grounding about shaping raw materials into something real, something that holds meaning. Woodworking has been a passion of mine for as long as I can remember — it’s not just a craft, it’s a way of connecting with the world around me.

I grew up surrounded by animals and horses, spending most of my time outdoors. That early bond with nature stuck with me — it taught me patience, presence, and how to listen, really listen, to the world.

I’m also a proud U.S. Army veteran and a two-time Purple Heart recipient. After my time in the military, I needed to find something that brought me peace. I found it in the water. Fishing — especially fly fishing — became a kind of therapy for me. It helped me reconnect with life. Now, I have the honor of helping other veterans find that same peace through Project Healing Waters.

When I’m not building or casting a line, you’ll probably find me behind a camera — chasing that perfect light, waiting on a bird to land, or just trying to freeze a quiet moment in time. Photography helps me slow down and appreciate what’s right in front of me.

Salt & Bone Studio has become something really special — not just because I get to create, but because I get to do it with my soulmate. Together, we’ve built something that reflects who we are, what we love, and the life we’re lucky enough to share.
